Although very neatly made, the Rainbow Sound Blocks are rattles. Describing them as having totally different "tones" was deceptive, as I interpreted that as something more musical, no longer just the sounds of various-sized little beads shaking around. It seems to me to be more acceptable for youthful kids (babies) simply picking up their first blocks and rattles, not truly that stimulating or instructional. I sold these for my 1 year previous and for my three 1/2 yr old. The colors of the blocks usually are not vivid like proven. This toy is great!!! It teaches totally different forms, colors, and sounds! My 3 year previous daughter looks in the path of the blocks to see in several coloration.
